the Prerogative Court of Canterbury
Susannah Burton
of Chelsfield dated 26 December 1755
Abstract of the will of Susannah Burton of Chelsfield
widow "being aged and infirm", dated 26 December 1755.
To be buried at the discretion of my Executors.
I give to the poor industrious housekeepers of Chelsfield £5
to be distributed at the discretion of my Executors.
To Alice Mace, the wife of my nephew Robert Mace, and to each
of her 5 children, two guineas apiece.
To my niece Elizabeth, wife of John Williams of Eltham, £20
for her own use.
To my daughter Barbara wife of Thomas Judd £10 for her own
use.
To John Williams the younger, son of my said niece Elizabeth
Williams, £10.
To my grandson John King £10 within one year, but in case he
should not survive to receive it then to his sister Mary King.
To the said Mary King my grand-daughter £100 at age 25, or
at 21 if my Executors think it most for her advantage and meantime she is
to have the interest on it. I also give her my gold chain necklace.
To my daughter Barbara Judd for life the use of my silver
pint mug, 3 silver spoons and my silver snuff box, and after her death
these items are to go to my granddaughter Mary King.
To my daughters Barbara Judd and Mary Favell my 4 best silver
spoons.
I give to my Executors two guineas each.
All residue of goods to my son in law Thomas Judd and my good
friend John Wakeling on Trust to pay my debts, expenses and legacies, and
what surplus shall remain I give equally between the said Barbara Judd,
Mary Favell, John King and Mary King.
I appoint Thomas Judd and John Wakeling my Executors.
