Chelsfield Wills - Part 1  Abstracts of will from Chelsfield proved in the Prerogative Court of Canterbury
John Jewell of Chelsfield dated  16 August 1657

Abstract of the will of John Jewell of Chelsfield yeoman dated 16 August 1657.
   I give 10s. to the poor of Chelsfield, to be distributed on the day of my burial.
   I give to my son John Jewell of Marden in the parish of Godstone, Surrey, one shilling.
   I give to my son Richard Jewell of Chelsfield £30.
   I give to Anne Charlwood, the daughter of my son William Jewell and wife of William Charlwood, £20, two featherbeds, one joined bedsteddle and all belonging to it, to be paid to her within 6 months of my decease or when she shall be 24 years of age.
   I give to Mary Jewell, the daughter of my son Richard Jewell, £20 and one featherbed, one joined bedstead and all belonging to it, to be paid to her similarly.
   If any of these last mentioned 3 legatees shall die leaving no child behind then the portion of any so dying shall be divided between the survivors and my Executor.
   My son Richard shall have the use and occupation of all my goods and money until the several days of payment.
   All my household goods, household stuff, the money for my stock of conies [?] that my son John had at Marden and all other money whatsoever I give to my grandson Richard Jewell, the son of my son Richard, whom I make my Executor.
   I entreat my loving friends Robert Leake of Croydon in Surrey poulterer and Timothy Mainard of Seal, Kent yeoman to be Overseers, and I leave them 3s.4d. each for their pains.
   John Jewell witnesses Alexander X Young Thomas X Plomer
Proved 25 October 1658 by Richard Jewell the grandson.       [PCC will PROB11/283]
