Executive Officer of Council
I am a retired Chartered Accountant (ex-FCA) and retired Chartered Certified Accountant (ex-FCCA). Having spent my working life as an Accountant in practice and industry, I feel I have the commensurate skills and experience within general administration, particularly in the charitable sector, to oversee the Society’s financial and accounting roles, which I have undertaken since the AGM in 2008. I am surrounded by historical and archaeological experts on Council and am content to take my lead from them, claiming no particular expertise in either field. My major input revolves around the Society’s finances. I have had a lifelong fascination with history and assisted/(hindered?) Mr. (later Dr.) Frank Jenkins on the Wingham Roman Villa Bathhouse dig in the mid-1960s, while still at school. I joined the Society in 2001.
