Strategic projects 2023-2027
The Board of Trustees has approved a series of projects as part of the Society's strategic public benefit remit.
These projects are ongoing and varied, and each will impact the Society's outcomes.
Asset digitisation
The Society will digitise its collections (Archaeological and History) using a collection management system (CMS). This is a managed ongoing community-based project involving volunteer engagement and providing online access to the Society collections.
Roman Pottery Workshop with Edward Biddulph
A KAS event from 10am to 4pm on Sunday, 5th November at Maidstone Community Support Centre introducing attendees to Roman ceramics, forms and typologies.
Currently a Senior Project Manager at Oxford Archaeology, Edward is a Roman pottery specialist, and his research interests include samian ware, Roman cemeteries, and cultural evolution. He is a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries (FSA), a Member of the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists (MCIfA), and a trustee of the Study Group for Roman Pottery.
Ashford's Worst Day: The 'Great Raid' of 24 March 1943
Local historian, author and publisher Ed Adams will be giving a talk starting at 7pm in the Hothfield Village Hall on 30th November.
KAS Fieldwork Conference 2023
A full-day conference exploring recent Society excavations will be held at the University of Kent on Saturday 25th November.
The event will take placed in room GLT1 of the Grimond Building with parking available nearby.
