Ashford's Worst Day: The 'Great Raid' of 24 March 1943

Local historian, author and publisher Ed Adams will be giving a talk starting at 7pm in the Hothfield Village Hall on 30th November.

Come along to a free talk by author Ed Adams and find out about the worst air raid on Ashford in World War Il which also caused the most death and injury of any air raid in Kent. Hear about the bombing raid by German Focke-Wulf aircraft which dropped 500kg bombs aiming for the town's railway works, but who also bombed the town and shot their cannons and machine guns at the town and at the REME base at Repton Manor, and finally burned down a barn at Great Chart.
