Gold, Garnet and the Treasure Act - An early medieval acquisition

Dr Elizabeth Blanning, Honorary Curator of the KAS, in conversation with Jo Ahmet, Kent Finds Liaison Officer, will unveil an important Early Medieval artefact which has been acquired by the KAS for the public.

Elizabeth and Jo will introduce the latest addition to the KAS Collection, an important item of Early Medieval jewellery, describing how it was found and placing it in the context of a small but significant group of similar objects. They will go on to discuss how Treasure is currently defined and treated under the Treasure Act and changes now under consideration.
