Historic Building Mythbusting - Uncovering Folklore, History & Archaeology
Isabelle Diggle, Finds Liaison Officer for Kent, will be discussing the county’s first significance case of Treasure. This is a Roman copper-alloy foot shaped oil lamp, the first of its kind in Britain.
The copper alloy footlamp was discovered by Neil Green during a Studying History & Archaeology in Lympne (SHAL excavation, which the KAS were providing professional support on. The footlamp has been identified as a 1st century AD lamp making it the earliest metal footlamp recovered in Britain from an excavation.

The lamp is currently going through the Treasure Process under the Significance criteria, brought into force in July 2023.
Joining instructions for the online event will be distributed closer to the time.
