Incredible lightshow inspired by the Anglo-Saxon world premiering at Rochester Cathedral this Autumn.
This October Rochester Cathedral will host the premiere of Scriptorium: The Illuminated Histories, a breathtaking new lightshow by Luxmuralis. This immersive experience brings brings to life the rich tapestry of the Anglo-Saxon era, featuring dragons, knights, biblical scenes and more, all inspired by illuminated manuscripts.
Drawing inspiration from the illuminated manuscripts of the Anglo-Saxon era, intricately crafted pages will come to life on nearly every part of Rochester Cathedral in a symphony of colour, light and sound. For the first time ever, parts of the lightshow will feature imagery from manuscripts held at Rochester Cathedral alongside images from the British Library collections.

Scriptorium is more than a visual treat. As visitors wander through the cathedral, they are enveloped in a symphony of soundscapes that complement and enhance the visual spectacle unfolding before them. From haunting chants to stirring melodies, the music serves as a poignant backdrop to the timeless narratives woven throughout the illuminated manuscripts.
Scriptorium: The Illuminated Histories has been created by award-winning artistic collaboration Luxmuralis. This is the fourth time they have brought their incredibly popular shows to Rochester Cathedral with audiences raving over the stunning visuals and inspiring music.
The show will take place over 5 nights from the 1st – 5th October. Tickets are available now through the Rochester Cathedral website.
Tickets must be pre-booked through the Rochester Cathedral website and timed entry will be in operation. This year, audiences can save money by booking off-peak tickets on Tuesday – Thursday.
