Rules of the Kent Archaeological Society

1. The Society shall consist of Ordinary Members and Honorm·y Members. 2. The funds, securities, and property of the Society shall be helresident, to elect some Member of the Society connected with the district in which the meeting shall be held, to act ns Chairmnn of such XIV KENT ARORJEOLOGICAL SOCIETY. Meeting. · At the snicl General Meeting, antiquities shall be exhibited, and papel's !'end on subjects of archreological interest. T􀇫1e accounts of the Society, having been previously -allowed by the Auditol's, shall be presented; the Council, through the Secretary, shall make a llepo1t on the state of the Society; and the Auditors nud the six: new l\fombers of the Council for the ensuing year shall be elected. 7. The Annual Gc11e111I Meeting shall have power to make such nlterat.ions in the Rules as the mnjority of Members present may approve: provided thnt notice of any contemplated alterations be given, in writing, t.o the Honoral'y Secretarv, before June the 1st in the then current year, to be laid hy liim before· the Council at their next Meeting; provided, also, thnt the snid contemplated alterntions l,e specifically set out in the notices summoning the Meeting, nt least one month before the dny appointed for it. 8. A Special Gcneml Meeting may be summoned, 011 the written requisition of seven Members, or of the President, or two Vice-Presiclents, which must specify the sul,ject intended t.o be brought forward nt such Meeting; nnd such subject alone can then be consiclerecl. 9. Candidates for admission must he proposed by one Member of the Society, nnd seconded by another, and l,e bnlloled for, if required, at any Meeting cf the Council, or nt a General Meeting, one blnck ball in five to exclude. 10. Each Ordinary Member sh11ll pay an A11n11al Subscription of 'J'en Shillings, clue in ndvance on the 1 st of J anunry in ench year; or £10 may at any time be paid in lieu of future subscriptions, as a composition fm life, proviclccrs. 15. .Members of cithc1' House of Parliament, who arc lauded proprietors of the couuLy or residents therein, shall, on becoming Members of the Society, be placed on the list of Vice-Presidents, and wilh thelll such othe.- persons as the Society may elect to that office. 16. The Courwil shall have power to dect, without ballot, on tlie nomination of two Members, any lady who may L>e desirous of becoming a Member of the Society. 17. The Council shall have power 'to appoint as Honorary Member any person likely to promote the interests of the Society. Such Honorary Member not to pay any subscription, and not to have the right of voting at any Meetings of 'the· Society; but to have all the other privileges of Members. 18. The Council shall have power to appoint nny :\fomber Honornr.v Local Secretni·y for the town or district wherein he may · reside, in order to facilitate the collection of nccurate information as to objects nnd dis• coveries of local interest, and mny at any time cancel such nppointment. 19. Meetings for the purpose of reading pnpers, the exhibition of antiquities, or the discussion of subjects connected therewith, shall be heltl at such times nnd places ns the Council may appoint. 20.
