It’s Your Society…

... so you can nominate the members of the Council and the Society's officers for election at the Annual General Meeting. If it is a sign of a healthy society that members do this, then judging by recent years, the Society is rather poorly!

Members may submit nominations for any office and for membership of the Council. There will be nominations put forward by the Council for all officers, including a new Hon. General Secretary; we are very pleased that Dr Peter Stutchbury has volunteered to take this office. The Council, however, does not nominate members of the Council - that is left to members.

Any five members can propose a candidate for election as a member of the Council or as an officer. Nominations have to be received in writing by the Hon. General Secretary by the 1st March at the latest and must be accompanied by the written consent of the candidate. If there are more candidates than vacancies there will be a postal ballot.

The results of the elections will be announced at the A.G.M. which will be at Canterbury on Saturday 15th May. The meeting will be in the morning and we hope to be supported by you and the attendance of plenty of other members. After the business there will be presentations about the Society's work and other topics of current interest. Full details will be in the next Newsletter.

Further information and guidance can be obtained from the Hon. General Secretary, Mr A.I. Moffat, Three Elms, Woodlands Lane, Shorne, Gravesend, DA12 3HH; email secretary@kentarchaeology.org.uk. Although a special nomination form does not have to be used, he can supply a suitable form.
