#HauntedKent

We had a spine chilling, spooktacular time hunting down ten of the most haunted locations in Kent for the Halloween season.

Of course, it is almost impossible to select a top ten in the county, with such a wealth of haunted castles, creepy houses, lost landscapes and eerie stories, we could have spent years exploring! We selected our sites based upon the fantastic work of those who have braved the hunt before us, in particular Girl About Travel, The most haunted places in Kent - 10 spooky spots to visit who inspired our spooky location selections.

Whilst hunting ghosts isn’t a regular aspect of Society practice, it was clear to us just how many of our spectacular historical monuments, architectural wonders, ancient buildings, archaeological sites and achingly beautiful historic landscapes have associated eerie, haunting and macabre stories.

Why not visit these incredible sites, soak up the spooky histories and stay for the phenomenal heritage on offer.

The posts are now available in our new Encyclopedia of Kentish Motifs:

Watch Archivist Craig and Curator Andy start the Halloween countdown.

There are so many stories of wandering spirits and echoes of the past engrained on the landscape and buildings across the county of Kent. The best way to learn about them is to explore these sites. This can be achieved by travelling to visit, or by immersing yourself in the amazing literature, historical surveys, archaeological studies and biographies of countless locations. Do get in touch if you have any questions about how you can interact with the incredible heritage of Kent, our Society was created for this very purpose.

Happy Halloween!
