In the Chancel.
102. Here is a very Ancient gilded Altar Piece, on which are painted ye 4 Evangelists. It is said to have formerly belong’d to ye Cathedral of Canterbury, & to have been brought hither by ye Late Arch Deacon BATELEY (sic).

103. Here are 4 Flat Stones not at all Legible; and on another is to be seen, only this Piece of an Inscription. "SMETH Parson of Adisham, buried the 28th of January …. [1601-2). [Wm. SMYTH, coll. Nov. 4 1579. Succr. was Martin FOTHERBYE coll. Jan 24 1602-3 on death of W.S.].

In ye North Transept on a Brass Plate on a Fl. Stone.
104. Here lieth ye Body of Valentine AUSTEN of this Parish, who died the 18th of December 1616, being of ye Age of 66 Years. Beati Mortui qui in Dno moriuntur.

On Another.
105. Here lies ye Body of Mr Richard AUSTEN of Canterbury. He died Apr. 14 1748. Aged 57 Years. Also Elisabeth, ye Wife of William CLARK of Southwark; she died 17 May 1748; Aged 25 Years. Also John, Son of ye abovesaid William & Elisabth. Clarke, died 1 May 1748, aged 8 Months 22 Days. Also Mr. John ICKEN of Southwark, he died Aug. 30 1751. Aged 19 Years, 6 Months.

106. In the South Transept. On a Small Sq. Stone on ye Ground. Here lieth Buried ye Body of Tryphena BENIT, dececet in 1638 and Elisabeth BENIT, Datter of George Benit, wo (sic) decessed in ye Year of Our Lord God 1644.

107. Here are 4 Other Flat Stones, not Legible.

108. This Church is a very fair, ‘tho not large, Building, of Flints. It consists of a Chancel and Body, both cover’d with Lead [now tiled too] – and a South and North Transept, coverd with Tyle. The Tower stands in ye Middle. In it hang 4 Bells, with ye following Inscriptions.

109. Some Remains in the Windows, shew they have once had fine Glass in them. It is a Rectory, in the Gift of The Arch Bishop, and was call’d St. Innocents. The Present Rector 1757 is ye Revd. Dr. Francis WALWYN. [coll. Jan.19 1757; succcr. the Hon. Jas. CORNWALLIS, A.M., coll. Sept. 1 1770, on death of F.W.)].

110. The Chapel of Staple is annext to it.
