16. This Church, which is very small, and shamefully out of Repair, consists only of the Chancell, and Body.
17. It has neither Altar Peice, nor Font; but, instead of the Latter, is a large Stone (placed on a Larger, by Way of Base) on which the Old Font formerly stood, which serves to set ye Bason upon.
18. It has no Steeple; but a small crack’t Bell hangs near the Top of the Roof, at ye West End. It seems to have an Inscription upon it, which, however, for Want of a Ladder, I could not get at.
19. In the Body, are 2 very ancient Flat Stones, without Inscription. 1 of them has a Cross Fleury raised on it.
20. A Round Arch, and Pillasters, between the Chancell and the Body; and a round Arch, and carved Pillaster, at ye Outside of the South Door, shew it to be a very Ancient Building.
21. This Church was dedicated to St. Oswald. It is a Chapel of Ease to Lyminge.
22. The Present Chaplain is Mr. Ralph PRICE. (See Secker Visn. 1758, III. No.183).
